I ended up helping 4 days on the project as an "unskilled" worker, but there was PLENTY to help out with! I absolutely love the show, but I have to tell you, I have found out something....it is the people you DON'T see on camera that a majority of the work! The volunteers made this (and I'm sure all of the show's other builds) project happen and succeed! I truly met some of the sweetest people in the world by working on this home! I only went there knowing only one other person helping (my dad) and I came home from almost a dozen addresses, emails, etc. from the many friendships formed through this wonderful project!!! I watch the show every Sunday and I am crying every Sunday. I am sorry that I could not voulnteer as I found out to late but nevertheless I am truly thanking GOD for Ty and his staff. They are truly wonderful, caring and commited people.It takes a person with a big heart to do what they do. May GOD contnue to bless him and his staff and the many many many voulnteers who give of them selves to see someone else dream come true. I can not wait to say as I have said so many times before on Sundays "bus driver move that bus: only this time it will be in person and to see the expressions on the girl's faces will be "priceless" This is so exicting and awesome to have Extreme Makeover House edition just three blocks down from me. Was there until 2AM last night. Any amount of time and supplies are appreciated. Skills and your own tools a plus. They need help putting furniture together. Take gloves, painting supplies, electric drill/screwdriver, etc. Clean up crews needed - you do not have to be a licenced contractor. And PLEASE take Gatorade, preferable in the smaller bottles - the guys are sweating their butts off and need replenishment. Supplies of soda and water, ice tea too! What a GREAT experience.
